Caloundra is celebrating its centenary with the publication of Caloundra: The Past 100 Years.

The book marks the centenary since the subdivision of the Bulcock family estate into parcels of land at Bulcock Beach, Bulcock Street and in between.

Caloundra’s centenary milestone has captivated these local historians.

While the rest of the region was turning towards major celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the region’s renaming from the Near North Coast to the Sunshine Coast, scoured Caloundra’s heritage collections for the last twelve months.

2017 has turned out to be a year of celebrations for not only Caloundra, but the Sunshine Coast and a great opportunity to reflect on the changes over the decades, 100 years of commerce in Caloundra and what lies ahead.

To celebrate the book’s publication, the Caloundra Chamber of Commerce will be opening its doors for the August Business After Hours event on Tuesday, 29 August.

The networking event will be held at one of Caloundra’s new restaurants, The Corner Pocket Bar & Grill, just a stone’s throw from the original Bulcock homestead overlooking the Pumicestone Passage. The Caloundra Chamber of Commerce will be joined by the book’s authors Anne Wensley and John and Janise Groves who are very passionate about Caloundra’s history.

Bookings for the event can be made here.
