The annual ceremony saw some of Australia’s most renowned chefs and food industry leaders come together to celebrate the country’s top ingredients, producers, innovators and farmers’ markets.
Sixteen awards were presented, including awards new to 2017: Outstanding Native Producer, Outstanding Artisan and the Ala Wolf-Tasker Foundation delicious. Produce Awards Scholarship.
Out of the four categories (From the Dairy, From the Earth, From the Paddock and From the Sea), Queensland took home two titles: From the Dairy and From the Sea.
From the Sea category winner Richard Hamilton was awarded the trophy for his high-quality spanner crabs. Richard has been providing spanner crabs to his large clientele for 30 years.
Queensland nominees included the Outstanding Innovation award presented by Miele, awarded to The Lime Caviar Company from Scenic Rim. Its finger limes have been the passion of Ian and Margie Douglas for more than ten years. Together, they have a grown a devoted customer base in both the domestic and international markets.
The 2017 delicious. Produce awards VIP event was hosted by delicious. senior editor Matt Preston. Guests were treated to canapés inspired by the 2017 trophy winners’ and gold medallists’ produce.
