New shopping centre development, Hope Island Marketplace is seeking artists to create an iconic mural. Opening this December, the centre is inviting local artists to submit proposals for the mural due for completion in January.

The mural competition is open to locals, hobbyists and professional artists alike. All of whom are encouraged to explore themes of a tropical local oasis and the warmth of the community. As well as to echo the Hope Island Marketplace tagline, Relaxed. Easy. Refined. Submissions can be made through to Sunday 16 December. To enter, a visual or sketch of the proposed design as well as a brief description of the entrant should be provided. The winning artist will receive a $2500 grant, and everything required to create the masterpiece. This is a great opportunity to showcase artist work and gain exposure in the local community with approximately 2000 passing by daily.

Hope Island Marketplace is located on the major intersection of Broadwater Avenue and Mervyn Thomas Drive, with the mural being positioned near the latter. Measuring a total of nine metres by four metres, this is an exciting opportunity for Hope Island Marketplace to showcase creativity and the community.

Hope Island Marketplace represents a cutting-edge retail development where essential community shopping services are balanced with progressive retail to create a truly unique product. The Marketplace will be home to Woolworths, Aldi and a wide range of specialty stores.
