The Kids Take Over program at Home of the Arts (HOTA) will return to the Gold Coast these summer holidays from 16 to 18 January. The program is a mini music festival where kids can create, get loud and make their mark between 10am and 2pm daily. HOTA will play host to a full program of activities for all mini-rock stars and lovers of music, dance and art, as the Home of the Arts transforms into a rock’n’roll arena and hub of entertainment over three days.

HOTA CEO Criena Gehrke said she thinks kids will love the mix of activities over the summer break. “Kids Take Over is a real rock ‘n’ roll mini fest full of fun and interactive activities that will leave kids feeling creative and inspired,” she said. “Kids will have a great time learning air guitar moves, working the decks and trying out some street dance moves. They can even take their creativity to our walls with our graffiti inspired art activities.”

Making a mark with paint and stencils, kids will have the chance to be schooled in street art by local artists as they transform HOTA into an Urban Streetscape, a free event offered daily during the Kids Take Over program. Kids and parents alike can cool off in the lake or kick their feet up at 11am daily when Jack Black movie classic School of Rock will be playing in the air-conditioned Basement.

Parents can dabble in the fun too and take a look at HOTA’s Let there be rock! gallery exhibition. With plenty to see and do, HOTA’s rocking Kids Take Over program will put on quite a show for the whole family over the summer holidays.
