Fortitude Valley furniture and lighting company Luxxbox has proved itself on the international stage, taking out the pendant category at this year’s LIT Lighting Design Awards.

Award co-founders Hossein Farmani and Ellen Hemming started the awards to attract designers and innovators working at a global level.

“We hoped to create a competition that would attract designers experimenting with light across different fields of study, light that interacts with and responds to our senses, that improves our day to day lives as well as decorating them. Luxxbox’s lights do just that, with sound absorption pendants for open-plan spaces.”

The LIT Lighting Design Awards recognise the efforts of talented lighting product designers from across the globe. The awards celebrate creativity and innovation in the fields of lighting products and application.

In awarding the prize, a panel of industry professionals and academics recognised Luxxbox as offering the market’s most comprehensive range of acoustic lights.

Luxxbox’s acoustic pendant range includes five styles, each designed specifically to increase the acoustic quality in open-plan environments. The range provides sound absorbing functionality, whilst still contributing to the calculable illumination outcome.

The entire range of pendants has been independently tested to show a significant sound reduction of between 45 and 70 per cent. This directly correlates to a decrease in noise related stress and fatigue. Every product in the range has also been tested for exact illumination output.

Using specifically developed design and manufacturing technology, the pendants have revolutionised how designers approach lighting in noisy environments. The innovation propels Luxxbox into the role of one of the world’s leaders in acoustic lighting.
