The Racecourse Road Business Group has announced the Bank of Queensland Racecourse Road Silks Festival will take place on Saturday 7 April from 10am to 9pm. The Racecourse Road Silks Festival showcases the best that Hamilton and Ascot have to offer through its very own street festival. The Silks Festival will transform the Ascot precinct with a celebration of community and history, offering an array of food, wine and craft beers, as well as roving entertainment.

Racecourse Road Business Group has participation from local businesses, precinct members, greater local commercial and community interest, with support and sponsorship from a suite of sponsors. The Silks Festival will officially be opened by Lord Mayor Graham Quirk and Councilor David McLachlan.

Surrounded by some of Brisbane’s oldest and historical homes and with traditional links to Eagle Farm Racecourse, Hamilton and Ascot will be transformed through an eclectic event program of music diversity; health and fitness and market stalls. With a strong focus on community and families there will be plenty of activities for kids of all ages.

The festivals success in past years has attracted big names such as Bank of Queensland, Mirvac, Brisbane Racing Club, The Hamilton Hotel, Brisbane Alfa Romeo and the backing of the Brisbane City Council. Bank of Queensland Racecourse Road Silks Festival has retained Director Murray Sutherland from creative and activation agency Kinetic. His success follows in past festivals including Tenerife Festival and Valley Fiesta. This year’s festival will bring the best of Hamilton and Ascot to the forefront of Brisbane, with historical elements of the region transforming into a contemporary and electric atmosphere.
