The Sunshine Coast International Fashion Festival (SCFF) has announced its 2018 Model Ambassador, Beti Chuol. The 20 year old unsigned model from Brisbane has been thrust into the spotlight in her new role as Model Ambassador for 2018. “I am someone who can be looked up to and respected,” said Beti. “I am kind and have a warm heart towards everyone. I will be representing SCFF in a positive light.”
The new ambassador joined SCFF as a model in 2017 and was adored by everyone who worked with her. Her role as spokesperson for the event, is to be the face of the event and to guide and mentor the many models who will walk during the festival. An integral part of the SCFF core team, Beti will represent and spread the word about this international calibre event. For its 11th year, the festival has not stopped at one Model Ambassador, with 16 year old Taylor Ridley of Sippy Downs on the Sunshine Coast given the role of Swim & Resort Ambassador.
Taylor has grown up with SCFF, walking her first event as a tween model in 2011. She has taken part every year since, with the support of her agency IMG Models Australia. The young model was discovered by IMG on the personal Instagram page of SCFF Founder and Director Jacinta Richmond. “Taylor was in a shot with my daughter and her friends, celebrating my daughters 13th birthday,” explained Jacinta. “Within the hour I had numerous agencies messaging me and the first to get in was IMG. You don’t get much better than one of the biggest agencies in the world.”
As Taylor is only 16, she was given this role so that she could develop as a spokesperson, while establishing her sense of self. “I have grown up here. It’s a real family with the models and designers and a safe environment to begin a modelling career. The level of respect the event has from modelling agencies everywhere is incredible,” says Taylor.
Beti and Taylor will be walking the runway at the Sunshine Coast International Fashion Festival in October, which will be held at The Sebel, Pelican Waters.
