Swiss former professional tennis player Martina Hingis has married sports physician Harry Leemann at Switzerland’s Grand Resort Bad Ragaz on Friday 20 July.

After being together for two years, the former tennis world number one and the physician from Zug exchanged vows in front of 140 guests at a non-religious wedding at the Swiss health and wellbeing resort. The couple decided to keep the wedding a private affair, with only close friends and family invited to the ceremony in Eastern Switzerland. After the celebrations, the happy couple headed off on their honeymoon.

The former number one in both singles and doubles retired in 2017 and is now a coach for the Swiss Fed Cup team. In future, Hingis wants to dedicate more time to her second big passion – horse riding – in addition to playing tennis. The newly-weds are therefore planning to construct eight horse stalls on their property in Bad Ragaz. Hingis and her husband, both 37, are shifting their focus towards sports, health and medicine.

CEO of the resort Patrick Vogler congratulated the newly weds and said “It is a great honour for us to host this very special moment in the lives of Martina Hingis and Harry Leemann at the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz. We would like to wish the couple a long and happy life together, filled with harmony and good health.”
