The Tamarind Restaurant in Maleny has won the Asian Restaurant Queensland and Breakfast Restaurant Sunshine Coast category at the 2018 Queensland & Northern Territory Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence on Monday 27 August.

Head Chef Daniel Jarrett and Restaurant and Catering Australia (R&CA) member Spicers Retreats said, “We are so happy and excited to be acknowledged in two categories. We value being involved in the awards program and want to congratulate all fellow winners and runners up.” General Manager Ryan Dillon stated it was great to be acknowledged. “We are super proud of the team. Dan and our team of Chefs continue to take our dining offering to the next level serving up the freshest produce in the most unique ways. It’s great to acknowledged and for the team to be recognised for their continuous hard work & attention to serving the best food possible.”

More than 150 local restaurants, cafes and catering businesses gathered to celebrate the achievements of their peers who were judged over 37 categories, with the winners announced at the Awards for Excellence ceremony held at the Royal International Convention Centre.  The Awards for Excellence is a nationally recognised, independently judged awards program that celebrates exceptional service and culinary talent across the state. It is the only program in Australia where the judging criteria is determined by consumers who rank what is important to them in the dining experience.

The Tamarind Restaurant may compete with other region finalists at the National Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence to be held at Luna Park in Sydney on Monday 29 October 2018. Finalists will be advised of their status by late September.
