The fourth annual Gold Coast Open House will open its doors of interesting and architecturally significant buildings and locations, inviting the public to take a behind the scenes look at places they may have only glimpsed from the street on Saturday 27 October.

This year, the team has announced a new ambassador for the open house Tim Ross – comedian, radio host, architecture enthusiast and television presenter of ABC series Streets of Your Town, which examined the changing aesthetics of Australia’s suburban housing. Tim Ross was chosen for his passion in architecture and design where he created his own stand-up show called Man About The House where it is set in prominent architecturally designed houses or buildings across the country. The show has been a nationwide and overseas success where all seasons have been sold out across Australia, London, Palm Springs and New Zealand have been sold out and the tour continues to tour globally.

Tim says his interest in architecture was sparked at a young age. “I was a kid of the suburbs and I was intrigued by the interesting houses around me and that were being built,” said Tim. “The best Architecture is open to all of us and it should be for all of us. The Open House program is about getting out and taking a sticky beak and letting design wash over you, move you and inspire you. I encourage everyone young, old and in between to get involved. To look up, to look across and back in time and to the future. To let it move you.”

The Gold Coast Open House full program of buildings and spaces will be announced on its website on Friday 14 September. Pre-registrations will open online on Friday 21 September.
