In a bold twist on the age-old genre, Queensland Opera took audiences out of the theatre and into Brisbane’s iconic night-life venue Cloudland for a fantastic new performance on March 29. The innovative new musical theatre event, Cloud Song, made full use of the venue’s magical interior with pop-up performances in every nook and cranny. Up to 600 guests were delighted by a secret line-up of acts, which included a fusion of traditional and operatic repertoire, flamenco dancers, aerialists and a live DJ. This was an event that truly took opera out of its comfort zone, reviving musical theatre for a modern audience.
