Hospitality honcho Tony Rigas and Entertainment extraordinaire Sue Porrett have announced they are teaming up for an ambitious project, set to re-ignite the allure of Broadbeach. The formidable pair are pleased to announce they have secured a 10-year lease on an iconic landmark venue in the heart of the dining and entertainment precinct.

The corner site of 88 Surf Parade and Victoria Ave Broadbeach is about to be transformed into a theatre cabaret and entertainment destination. The two-storey site has been sitting empty for more than two years and has been in desperate need for a new operator to breathe new life into the location and at the same time give Broadbeach a good dose of adrenalin in the veins of the suburb.

Tony Rigas is a name etched in the city’s fabric when it comes to hospitality. His career spans more than 30 years, having created and led some of the biggest and most successful venues in the city including Shooters Saloon Bar, Quest Lounge Bar & Club, Mybar, Love Nightlife, Opium Restaurant & Champagne Bar, and The Oriental Whiskey. “Nearly 20 years ago l worked with Sue to bring real entertainment to my venues. I have always believed in combining the right people with the right environment creates the perfect entertainment venues. I am thrilled to be working with Sue on our exciting new project. Sue Porrett is the owner and founder of Aerial Angels Australia with more than 30 years experience in all forms of live shows and theatre and has toured the world as both a creative director and producer. Aerial Angels Australis is globally known as one of the leading international entertainment and production facilitators and boasts an impressive kaleidoscope of creations including Viva Tropicana (Ocean Park Hong Kong) and The Great Moscow Circus 50th Anniversary Australian Tour. The Gold Coast will also remember her spectacular show, LumiAir which featured in the Grande Chapiteau at Broadwater Parklands, Jupiters Theatre and also at Sunway Lagoon Malaysia. Popular shows Zircus and Solaria also appeared at Jupiters Theatre and recently Sue worked with Village Roadshow Outback Spectacular Heartland.

With entertainment darling Sue Porrett working with Tony, there is certain to be an element of theatrical performance in the new space. “There will be spectacular show and entertainment element to the new venue! Our venue will be an intimate theatre setting that will play host to talent sourced from all over the world. As for the rest, my lips are sealed! The city will love our new venue and l am absolutely ecstatic to be working with Tony on this massive project. We can’t wait to reveal what we have planned,” stated Sue Porrett.

The talented duo are currently working on a complete overhaul of the location and will announce further details in coming months, including the name and concept. The project will be unveiled mid-2019.
