Buskers by the Creek

What do watermelon-wielding jugglers, dancing poodles and human scarecrows have in common? They’re all wanted by the Buskers by the Creek organisers, who are on a mission to make the Currumbin Creek festival the weirdest and wackiest in its six-year history. A call has been put out for the ‘great unknowns’ to join the world-leading busking festival. All applicants are welcome, nothing is too absurd or offbeat. Since its inception in 2014, the festival has grown to attract crowds of more than 20,000 people and received multiple honours, including being named a national finalist in the Best Event category at the 2018 Australian Event Awards. This year’s event will also feature the return of the prestigious Battle of the Buskers, which sees top singer/songwriters compete to win a performance package at the Airlie Beach Festival of Music, a paid gig at Surfers Paradise LIVE, a secured place in the Bluesfest Busking Competition, prize money, a publicity package and more.
