Perched in the clouds high above the Sunshine Coast hinterland is a sublime luxury getaway, aptly named Freestyle Escape. Freestyle Escape is an extension of owner Martin Duncan’s other enterprise, Freestyle Tout, the fabulous dessert restaurant located in Brisbane’s Emporium in Fortitude Valley. Conceived as a foodie haven, the accommodation comprises two houses, Escape and Arthouse, with either a three-bedroom or single bedroom

option. Escape caters for up to three couples and centres around a generous kitchen stocked with gourmet pantry items such as condiments and other extras for a night or two of culinary heaven. Provisioning is easy, and can be pre-booked, or there is a butcher, gourmet fruit store and bottle shop on the drive up from Nambour. Breakfast is included at Freestyle, and a lovely array of fresh eggs and other delights awaits on arrival. For connoisseurs

who cannot bear to be too far from a good cafe latte, Freestyle Escape’s pod-system coffee machine is a dream come true. The Outdoor Kitchen at Freestyle has an orchard, herb garden and rustic wooden table with seating for 12-20 people, making it a perfect place to gather for a special event. Chefs can be booked for a celebratory occasion. But cooking up a storm is just one option for a Freestyle stay.

For those more inclined to simply sit, the space conjures instant calm with its vast cubic design, and floor to ceiling glass allowing expansive views back toward the coastline. Freestyle Escape works as a place for couples to relax, read, contemplate and enjoy one another’s company, or for a small group of friends to

gather in privacy. The deck overlooks a fairyland of twinkling lights by night, and breathtaking views of surrounding mountains and seascape by day. The fireplace, stacked with wood, kindling and lighters, makes a cosy indoor alternative on cooler occasions. Conversely, the plunge pool will take the heat out of a hot

summer’s day. Refreshing breezes also waft up from the coastline. Freestyle has it all. You can create the ambience of a day spa, pampering yourself with a ripple massage and soaking away stress in the huge stone bathtub overlooking the landscape far below. [threecol_two]XW3P9232[/threecol_two]

You can also book art and sculpture classes, and cooking classes and demonstrations. Located west of Nambour, south of Mapleton, Freestyle is a perfect secluded escape option, ideal as an alternative to the beach but close enough for a swim in the sea if it takes your fancy. Guests are greeted by the house manager on arrival, given a quick tour including instruction on how to work the integrated sound system, and then left to their own devices for the duration of their stay. Next time you feel the need to escape, head for Freestyle.
