Gorilla Theatre: Improvised Comedy

April 7, 2017 7:30 pm - April 9, 2017 10:30 pm $20

Get set for some monkey business – ImproMafia is bringing something truly unique to Metro Arts! Gorilla Theatre is the weird and wonderful improvised theatre format that’s delighted audiences around the world. First created by legendary improviser and Theatresports founder Keith Johnstone, this unique show has been making people laugh, think and crave potassium for decades. Now, Gorilla Theatre returns to Brisbane as local heroes ImproMafia vie for the respect and admiration of a theatre-loving gorilla that definitely isn’t just some guy in a suit.

Five hilarious improvisers will desperately attempt to out-act, out-direct and out-manoeuvre one another as they strive to impress the gorilla with bold artistic visions inspired by your suggestions, but it’s up to the audience to decide whether their improvised scenes are any good. Will their direction earn a banana or result in an embarrassing penalty? And who will win the ultimate prize – a dream date with the gorilla?

Playing for three nights only at Metro Arts, this quirky M15+ show promises laughs, a healthy dose of absurdity and maybe even just a little bit of actual theatre.
