Queensland’s theatre industry gathered at Brisbane Powerhouse for its night of nights, the 2018 Matilda Awards, on Monday 18 February. Brisbane’s debase Productions took home the coveted Gold Matilda with acting gongs awarded to Noni Hazelhurst, Paul Bishop, Andrea Moor and Jackson McGovern. The Longest Minute and Prize Fighter shared the stage and the award for Best Mainstage Production in the night’s only tie. About 500 artists and arts lovers were treated to entertainment from Casus circus, soprano Irena Lysiuk and entertainers Luke Kennedy and Michael Tuahine.
