This December , the Gold Coast will become the first Queensland city for GoBoat to launch eco-friendly, electric powered picnic boats, available to the general public to hire without a boat licence at Sanctuary Cove Marine Village.
Originally from Denmark, the Scandinavian designed electric picnic boats have been providing a unique way to enjoy cities across Europe and Australia, allowing guests to safely operate a vessel without needing a boat licence or any previous boating experience.
GoBoat Australia CEO, Nick Tyrrell, said the Gold Coast is the ideal location for GoBoat to launch in Queensland, as the locals and tourists alike love enjoying both the water and the sunshine that the city offers. “GoBoat is all about making the water accessible to everyone, and really enjoying the boating experience through good food, good company, and of course great Gold Coast weather. The combination of the silent electric motor with zero pollution, and the central wooden picnic table really makes the GoBoat experience a uniquely social one,” Mr Tyrrell said.
“We have been working on a launch in Queensland for quite some time now and we have recently secured a fantastic berth in Sanctuary Cove that is easily accessible and will give our guests a relaxed, premium and memorable experience,” he said.
GoBoat will be located at Pier F at the Sanctuary Cove Marina which is synonymous with boating and lifestyle, making it the perfect platform to host this recreational activity. Marina General Manager, Steve Sammes said that Sanctuary Cove was delighted to partner with GoBoat in an official capacity and offer something special to Marine Village visitors as well as Gold Coast locals. “Visitors to The Marine Village are in for a real treat as they step aboard a GoBoat and enjoy our waterways, taking in the natural scenery and enjoying this great concept.”
