Luciana Smith, Mortadella Moments

Drawing from her own observations and a range of pop culture and internet references, Luciana Smith twists her subjects into a fictional world that exists between the real and imagined. Her colourful scenes create a new and idiosyncratic narrative for human behaviour and environments, through painting she notes, and zooms in on, the humour of day-to-day life. Her work is a collection of opportunistic snapshots that recontextualise their subjects by marrying candid, fleeting gestures with found imagery.
