Royal Queensland Art Society is presenting at its Petrie Terrace Gallery for the second time the Salon des Refusés, held in partnership with the Brisbane Portrait Prize.
The Salon des Refusés and the Brisbane Portrait Prize give the gallery the opportunity to provide a platform to showcase and celebrate Brisbane artists and their sitters. Come along to see the stories behind these Brisbane artists and their chosen sitters. As they document their process from conception to canvas, and what inspired the subject selection.
For those wishing to attend, The VIP Gala Night will be at 7 pm on 8 October, tickets are $50. Available to purchase via Eventbrite. Additionally, there will be a number of wine and cheese nights hosted on Saturdays during the exhibition. These wine and cheese nights will be a chance to hear the artists, entrants, and key individuals speak about the show. Tickets are $20 via Eventbrite. The events will take place on the following dates: October 16, 23 and 30.
The Salon des Refusés will be on show from the 7 to 31 October and will feature works that were not included in the Brisbane Portrait Prize Finalist exhibition. Petrie Terrace Gallery will open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 3.30pm. Entry is free, except for the ticketed events. Bookings are only essential for the ticketed events and can be made via Eventbrite or by calling Petrie Terrace Gallery directly on 07 3367 1977. There’s free parking available around the gallery, as well as wheelchair parking located near the ground-level gallery.
