The Brisbane Fashion Festival at Brisbane City’s heart King George Square was a resounding success, proudly showcasing the very best in Queensland and Australian fashion design. The Festival’s runway shows sold-out in record time this year, with more than 5000 fashion fans in attendance and thousands more tuned-in to the runway show live streams. Held from Sunday, August 25 until Friday, August 30 – the Festival is the first in the country to launch Spring/Summer collections annually.
The Festival kicked-off in triumphant style with the W Brisbane Fashion Show, opening with iconic, world-first Driza-Bone and Rossi Boots collection launches, as worn by some of Australia’s Olympic gold, silver and bronze-medallist swimmers. Other top events included fash-tastic Group Shows; a High Tea and Designer Salon Showing; A Legacy Lives On: Life, Art, and Influence of Coco Chanel Panel Discussion, in partnership with Queensland Ballet; a Luxe Luncheon; and a closing charity walk and panel discussion for ‘Dress to Express’ Beyond DV. The Next Gen Group Show, showcased the next big names in Queensland and Australian design; and on Thursday evening, a star line-up of Queensland’s most-loved designers lit-up the runway in the closing Designer Group Show.
Festival Director Lindsay Bennett said he was ecstatic to see such a strong show of public backing for the Festival, which continued to play a vital role in driving Queensland retail sales. “We are humbled and grateful for the public’s invaluable support for the much-loved Festival, which offers an unrivalled platform for top fashion designers and retailers,” Mr Bennett said. “This year, the Festival has been an outstanding celebration of the best of Spring/Summer ‘24 local and national fashion. Thank you to the people of Brisbane, our sponsors and our loyal fashion fans for making the 17th Brisbane Fashion Festival the very biggest and best yet!”
