Spring by the Brisbane River will be transformed into a Parisian summer along the Seine for the 10th anniversaire of Le Festival this month.

After the original 10-year celebration was postponed in July, the French festivités will now be held during October at iconic Kangaroo Point location Riverlife, creating a big buzz amongst Brisbane Francophiles. Hosted across four weekends, the C’est La Vie 2020 program will include a collection of masterclasses, wine and cheese tastings, champagne breakfasts, and by popular demand, a series of cultural conferences.

Le Festival Director Betty Moinet said that the event team were thrilled that the tenth anniversary celebration could proceed – and with the beautiful River City as a backdrop.  “For anyone who might be looking to add something special to their weekend plans, our events will be sure to insert some French flavour,” Ms Moinet said. “We’re obviously not doing a lot of travelling at the moment, but our masterclasses and conferences are an easy way to escape to France for the weekend.”

Le Festival will welcome a group of experts to present interactive masterclasses on everything from champagne and cheese, to cooking and culture – with mini-events starting from Friday 16 October and running across four weekends until Saturday 7 November.

Owner and operator of Riverlife John Sharpe said he was excited to welcome an event that was such an important part of Brisbane’s social calendar. “We are delighted to be involved in this exciting program with Le Festival, a celebration of culture and French joie-de-vivre,” said Mr Sharpe. “Due to the size of our venue, we knew that Le Festival’s C’est La Vie program would be well suited to Riverlife. Guests will have no trouble social distancing and we’ve taken every step to align with COVIDsafe guidelines.”

Since 2010, Le festival has become the largest French Festival in Australia, offering a unique rendez-vous for Brisbanites and others to immerse themselves in a genuine French cultural experience. Tickets and registration for Le Festival’s C’est La Vie 2020 program is now available online.
