Surfers Paradise hosted Christmas with an Australian twist as the beachside precinct transformed into a summertime wonderland for the annual Carols on the Beach event on Sunday 23 December.

Thousands of families gathered on the beach with the sand between their toes and a sea of stars hang overhead for a special night united in song. Heralded as one of the highlights of the Christmas season, the event saw a host of seasoned performers taking to the stage for the event, leading the crowd singing an array of traditional and modern carols ahead of a spectacular fireworks display. Kids were delighted to meet their favourite Looney Tunes characters on the foreshore with Bugs Bunny, Tweety, Daffy Duck, and Sylvester all in attendance to shake hands with their littlest fans before taking to the stage.

An initiative of Surfers Paradise Alliance, the iconic beach precinct has welcomed sunshine, surfboards, thongs, and all things summer along with decorated Christmas trees, roving carollers, and a giant Advent calendar throughout the Christmas period.
