‘Éla Drink + Meze’ Opens at Cairns Waterfront

Riding high on anticipation since its announcement earlier in the year, The Wilson Group (of Ollie’s Italian and formerly The Chambers) will open their new Mediterranean-inspired venue Éla Drink + Meze on August 26 at the Cairns Waterfront Dining precinct.

Éla Drink + Meze will be the epitome of Tropical Far North Queensland dining, stretching twenty-three metres along Cairns waterfront in the dining site previously home to the Boatshed. The venue is both light-filled and breezy, with the capacity to host up to 140 guests (seated) across a range of carefully considered and comfortable seating options — from banquette to bar, in both indoor and alfresco settings.

Designed with the intent to share, the menu features a range of small and large mezes perfectly suited for every occasion, from breezy long lunches to drinks and nibbles at dusk. Celebrated small plates include baked eggplant, dolmades and goat-milk saganaki, while large plates include confit lamb shoulder and the parrilla-grilled chicken souvlaki. The menu is complemented by a generous selection of signature and classic cocktails, exceptional wines and crisp beers.

Says Joan Wilson, “It [Éla Drink + Meze] feels like the right evolution for the Cairns Waterfront Dining precinct”. Named after a Greek expression translating to ‘come’ or ‘come now’, Éla Drink + Meze beckons tourists and locals to enjoy a slice of Mediterranean paradise. In an ode to the coastal allure and modern flavours of the Aegean, Éla Drink + Meze has all the ingredients for success – stunning waterfront views, a strong culinary concept and an elevated, yet casual ambience perfectly suited to Tropical Far North Queensland’s balmy climate.
