Former Miss World Australia Courtney Thorpe has partnered with the Children’s Hospital Foundation and Woolworths to launch their annual Easter Wall Token campaign, and is encouraging the community to visit their local Woolworths and buy a $2 wall token, to help make a difference to the lives of sick kids and their families this Easter.
Professor Peter Davies, Director of the Children’s Nutrition Research Centre (CNRC) in the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland is also available for commentary, who is leading the charge on transforming the landscape of childhood nutrition in Australia, and is particularly passionate about curbing the childhood obesity epidemic.
With 25% of Australian children currently overweight or obese and predictions that this will reach 60% by 2040 if no changes are made, I wondered if you might be interested in exploring this issue further. We thought it would be particularly poignant in the lead up to Easter, to help educate parents on healthier options / impact of chocolate egg consumption (e.g. calories / sugar in different sized-eggs).
On April 13 (Easter Thursday), Courtney will be at Woolworths Chermside selling these tokens and encouraging local shoppers to get on board.
