These September school holidays The Condensery are hosting their Family Field Day on Friday 27 Sept 2024 which will feature art workshops, nature walks and creative fun for children and families.
Located within the Somerset region, The Condensery is a unique regional art gallery. They deliver exceptional creative practice to the community through exhibitions, events, performances and the commission of new work.
From 11am-3pm there will be a range of fun and educational drop-in creative activities that aim to encourage children’s environmental interests. These include Aunty Jeannine Smith’s Weaving workshop, Simon Degroot’s Charcoal Rubbing class and Naomi McKenzie’s Digital Photography Walk where kids can try a variety of cool new hobbies. Join Jane Nicholson in her Healing Garden class to learn more about textile arts and crafts that draw upon the healing properties of plants and flowers in the region.
Located in The Condensery’s gallery spaces is the Creation Station where you can slow down and participate in a frottage drawing activity as part of Simon Degroot’s Soft Pressing exhibition. Sue from Somerset Council Libraries will be hosting storytime outdoors that will include an exciting play session that encourages talking, reading, singing and creating.
Kids can also participate in the Cressbrook Creek scavenger hunt where they will have to challenge themselves to find all the hidden objects. The Condensery will be running an Introduction to Cyanotype photograms workshop with LeAnne Vincent on the day for people interested in learning about one of the world’s oldest forms of photography.
