Ristorante Fellini at Marina Mirage on the Gold Coast is hosting a fundraising cocktail party on 6:30pm Friday 3 May to raise money for the not-for-profit organisation Orangutan Foundation International Australia.
The money raised on the night will assist in funding Orangutan Foundation International to operate its Care Centre & Quarantine in Borneo for the rehabilitation of orphaned and displaced orangutans, as well as for purchasing, protecting and replanting vital forest habitat. The Care Centre in Borneo currently cares for more than 330 orangutans whose habitat has been destroyed for palm oil plantations, mining and illegal logging.
Orangutan Foundation International Australia founding president Kobe Steele said they were excited to be holding the inaugural fundraiser at Ristorante Fellini to raise much needed funds for the protection of critically endangered orangutans. “The orangutan is an IUCN-listed Critically Endangered Species which will be extinct in 20 years if nothing is done,” said Steele. “The Care Centre provides orangutans with food, shelter, love and the skills they will need when released back into the wild. But for that eventual release to be successful, OFI needs to secure land for the orangutans to have a safe place to live. Money raised at the cocktail party fundraiser will go a long way towards the conservation of these precious wild orangutans and their rainforest habitat.”
Tickets to the cocktail party include an evening of delicious canapés and the finest selection of matching wine and beer, live band Double or Nothing, and an auction of one-off items exclusive only to guests, including a private two-bedroom villa in Bali for one week and two gold buillion bards valued at $3600. A fundraising auction of prizes will include a day with Australia’s leading neurosurgeon Dr Charlie Teo, an opportunity to meet Jimmy Barns on his forthcoming tour, a personal training session with triple ironwoman title holder Courtney Hancock, and a day on nine-time Sydney to Hobart winner maxi yacht Wild Oats XI.
Orangutan Foundation International Australia raises awareness about the plight of orangutans and other wildlife species through a wide variety of local and global outreach and education programs. To support their initiatives visit its website.
