Brisbane trailblazer of open-air markets, Peter Hackworth, is launching Riverside at the Gardens QUT Infusion Market every Sunday at QUT on Main Drive, which will connect to her existing
Riverside at the Gardens Market off Alice Street, directly through a lush pathway in the City Botanic Gardens.

When Riverside at the Gardens QUT Infusion Market has its Grand Opening at 10am on Sunday 21st March 2021, the two Riverside markets will run concurrently every Sunday from 8am to 3pm, bringing energy, colour, music, arts and people to this historic end of George St and the QUT precinct. There will be a strong indigenous opening to the new market, from the launch event onwards.

Creative Nations will MC the opening ceremony and conduct other performances in the afternoon and over the first few months of the market. QUT’s Elder-in-Residence Uncle Cheg will conduct the Welcome to Country, with a smoking ceremony and cultural performance from Shannon Ruska and Tribal Experiences, before QUT Vice Chancellor Prof. Margaret Sheil gives the opening speech.

March 21 is Harmony Day and the culmination of Harmony Week in Australia. Riverside at the Gardens QUT Infusion Market reflects these same values as a multicultural extravaganza of food, arts, crafts and performers that draws its heritage and inspiration from around the world.

Visitors to the Riverside markets can feast on the incredible array of food to eat there or prepare at home, with a farmer’s market, cooking demonstrations, unique handmade art and crafts, fashion and gifts. There will be a wonderful line-up of buskers and live entertainment on the wide pathway connecting the two markets through the lush green, shady botanic gardens. It’s a day out for everybody, free to enter and just as welcoming to our canine companions.
