Michelin-starred Chef Manjunath Mural has teamed up with his childhood friend Sridhar Penumechu and Malt Dining’s Nick Pinn to create a dining and bar experience never seen before in Brisbane. Heritij, a modern play on the traditional word ‘heritage,’ embraces roots, culture, heirlooms, experience and ancestry and is now the name of the new restaurant headed by Chef Mural. The award winning chef, who also presides over Singapore restaurant, Song of India, will combine his distinctive ‘Asian-Indian gastronomy’ with the expertise and experience of his partners to create an exceptional destination dining and bar experience at Brisbane Quarter.
The restaurant will offer a distinctive menu that will take traditional Indian preparation methods and blend them with Australian flavours to result in uniquely juxtaposed culinary offerings. A destination bar within the restaurant has been conceptualised by Pinn, who has achieved strong success with two innovative Malt Traders craft retail liquor outlets and five restaurants in Brisbane. The bar will offer a new take on street food, in addition to an expansive cocktail menu as well as a focus on exclusive American whisky blends. Chef Mural is the first Indian Executive Chef to score a Michelin star for an Indian restaurant in Southeast Asia and Heritij is in exceptional hands to deliver taste sensations for Brisbane diners. Mural’s vision to present modern Asian Indian cuisine at its pinnacle on an international level will start a new chapter in Queensland this year at his Brisbane Quarter restaurant.
