The home of luxury menswear Mitchell Ogilvie Menswear in Brisbane is expanding to James Street from its Edward Street home to open a new and re-imagined concept as an additional boutique.
The next-generation store has a strong focus on Casualwear and Made-to-Measure offerings alongside a carefully curated range of suits, jackets and trousers, now officially open within the stylish James Street precinct (found between Maryon’s and A?sop). Customers will be able to shop an array of exclusive collections, with an exciting addition being the Mitchell Ogilvie Tailoring Made-to-Measure trousers and shorts range.
Mitchell Ogilvie was twenty-one when he first opened Mitchell Ogilvie Menswear on Edward Street in April 1981, with there already being half a dozen independent menswear retailers along the street. “I am filled with an immense sense of excitement surrounding the James Street opening,” said Mitchell Ogilvie.
“This is beyond an expansion, it is a bold step into the future of luxury menswear for Brisbane. Our new concept store is a testament to the evolution of style and meets the growing demand of customers, offering a sophisticated blend of casualwear and bespoke tailoring that caters to the stylish customer,” he said.
For more than 44 years, Mitchell Ogilvie Menswear has provided its customers with a carefully curated collection of the world’s leading designers, often seeing visits from some of the globe’s most influential men including business leaders, politicians, royalty, and movie stars.
“I recall one evening, many years ago,” Mitchell remarked, “it was late at night, I was sitting at home and my phone rang – it was Stevie Wonder’s team wanting to come in-store following a concert in Brisbane. Stevie had asked for the best menswear store in Brisbane, and as such, we opened the store at 11:00pm just for Stevie, who actually ended up purchasing suits for not only himself but for his entire crew.
“My vision has always been to establish a luxury boutique with a renowned standard of excellence with a dedication to the customer, and this vision now carries us to James Street,” said Mitchell.
Elevating the sartorial landscape of Brisbane, the James Street location will also hero the Mitchell Ogilvie Tailoring line providing an above-personalized experience for customers. The line features size runs of casual European-style pants and shorts, meticulously crafted to embody both comfort and elegance. Designed with the warm Queensland climate in mind, each piece is as light and breathable as it is stylish.
Mitchell Ogilvie Menswear is now open on James Street: Shop 2/46 James Street, between Maryon’s and Aesop.
