Gold Coast developer Aniko Group has lodged a development application with the city council for a series of spectacular marina berths fronting its luxury apartment development located in No. 1 Grant Avenue at Hope Island.

The plans comprise 16 marina berths of between 12 and 15 metres located along the waterfront. The berths will provide direct and bridge free access to the Broadwater, providing suitable moorings for larger vessels. Aniko Group managing director George Mastrocostas says the berths are a perfect fit for the No. 1 Grant Avenue development which is proving popular among lifestyle buyers. “Waterfront living is what Hope Island is all about, and the marina berths will complement our vision at No. 1 Grant Avenue as the ultimate resort style residence,” he said.

The marina berths release also plans to cater for growing demand for mooring facilities in South East Queensland. The developer says there has been an explosion of watercraft ownership over the past 10 years and the Gold Coast is at the centre of that with some of the state’s busiest boat ramps. “This will appeal to both investors and avid boaties who understand the true value and convenience of a well located marina berth,” Mastrocostas said.

Apartment buyers at the $140 million No. 1 Grant Avenue project have expressed early interest, with seven of the 16 marina berths already selling pending council approval. Many of the projects buyers choose to live at Hope Island because of its easy access to some of Australia’s best protected waterways. “We also believe the broader market has an appetite for a premium offering such as this,” he said.

Aniko’s marina berth release comes amidst plans to significantly expand the Gold Coast Marine Precinct at nearby Coomera, cementing its position as the premier destination in the South Pacific to service recreational vessels. The expansion plans by The Boat Works and Gold Coast City Marina are worth a combined $200 million. The work will not only boost capacity for repair and maintenance facilities, but also create a new social and entertainment precinct with a boutique shopping and dining experience that will highlight the precinct as an attraction in its own right, according to Aniko Group.
