Three storeys of drinks and music with a riverside view – the new OASIS ship has it all. The boat travels around the Brisbane River every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – and for the rest of the week, by private hire. It’s built for any weather, so you can party even whether it’s the dead of winter or a sunny summer.

Despite its luxe exterior, the ambience of the cruise is casual and chill. It is perfect for a casual hangout or a small get-together – but can just as easily be for a birthday celebration or a company party.

Both cocktails and mocktails were divine – most of them took on a tropical theme, with citrus flavours being the most prominent in the menu. I especially enjoyed Why is Rum Gone?, a delicious blend of orange, passionfruit, falernum, grenadine, and lemon. The free champagne was a great starter as well. As for the dining menu, they mostly served small entrees. The karaage was great, everything else was alright.

The day I went had DJs Marrmon, Figjam, Anna Sonnenburg, Field Blend, and Geordie – most of the setlist was House, not really to my personal taste but I enjoyed myself nonetheless. Most of the guests enjoyed the music, the weather, and the drinks; and the trip ended with the beautiful sunset by the river.

Though the atmosphere was wonderful, it’s not advisable for those easily seasick or for extreme lightweights to attend – the boat is still a boat, and if you’re about to pass out, the rocking doesn’t help. The attendants do check up on the guests consistently and provide great customer service, but for those who need a quick escape after getting drunk, this definitely isn’t for you – the boat trip goes on for about four to five hours, non-stop.

Overall, I’d definitely come again – with a group of friends and with a music setlist I prefer!
