The Foundry Murwillumbah is a rustic and historic storefront, providing the undertones for a rare shopping experience.  Having recently revisited its business model, the company made changes that enabled it to easily introduce new lines of products and keep the shopping experience exciting.  It was this change and attention to detail around meeting the demands of the local community that saw it take out the 2019 GNS Wholesale Stationers Retailer of the Year award.

The core focus of The Foundry is to respond to customer needs and to support the business community.  This drive and desire to ensure the store has something for everyone and the perfect gift for any occasion, coupled with traditional newsagent favourites is what makes The Foundry so special.  Through the positive changes and reinvigorated business model commitment to delivering old school customer service values will be maintained. The Foundry Murwillumbah looks forward to supporting the community for many years to come.

GNS Wholesale General Manager QLD, Nerolee Conoghan said it was refreshing to see a regional retailer changing their business model to meet the demands of their local community, and that they had earned the respect of fellow retailers and industry suppliers. The Foundry went up against more than 3500 newsagents and retailers across Australia, nominated as state finalists before taking out the national award.  Paul Yardley, CEO of GNS Wholesale said that the award is “judged on a strict criteria”.  This criteria includes store presentation, customer service, range, depth and breadth, community participation and support of the stationary category.

The direction and investment that the Foundry has taken has resonated with its suppliers as well as the community, and while having only been in operation for just over 12 months, The Foundry is definitely a talking point for locals, and somewhere to add to your list of must visit destinations.
