The Royal Queensland Art Society celebrated its Biennial Gala Opening, the fourth Queensland Figurative Award and the third Young Artist Award on September 12 at The Paint Factory at Yeronga. The QLD Figurative is a non-acquisitive art award open to Queensland artists for 2D works in which the human figure is integrated in the composition, and the Young Artist Award was open to artists under 17 and aged 18-30 for 2D artworks drawn from life. Guests included philanthropist Tim Fairfax who officially opened the event and Brisbane City Councillors Peter Matic and Vicki Howard, RQAS President Marg Thomas, The Paint Factory Director Paul Hey and many notable artists.
