As a development boom hits the northern Gold Coast region, Brisbane-based developer Keylin Group is set to commence a $1.6 million construction program at Sickle Park. To mark the occasion, Keylin Group recently welcomed Hope Island locals to a tree-planting event which hosted members of the community who are set to benefit from the park upgrade.

Director of Keylin Group, Louis Cheung, said he was thrilled to receive the go-ahead on what will be a fantastic addition to the Hope Island community and was eager to get the locals involved. “As a developer in the area we know how important it is that residents have that sense of community which is why we chose to embark on this upgrade. We want to create a space the whole community can enjoy and to be able to get Hope Island residents involved in the process is fantastic. We’ve been working with council on these plans since 2016 and appreciate the support of Cr Caldwell who has been a great advocate of the project,” Mr Cheung said.

The rejuvenation will see the creation of a natural ampitheatre in the park as well as numerous shelters with BBQ facilities to accommodate the area’s growing community needs. After community consultation, Keylin Group and City of Gold Coast Council have included additional carparks along Sickle Avenue. The avenue will also be widened and stormwater drainage upgrade works will be completed.

Councillor Cameron Caldwell welcomes the much-needed upgrade which will have lasting benefits for the community. “I have no doubt it will be a well utilised hub for the community that can be enjoyed for many years to come,” Cr Caldwell said.

The upgrade will take place in three stages, over six months with stage one works commencing early next year. Keylin is also a major contributor to transforming the local infrastructure, paying almost $4 million in council infrastructure charges which includes the $1.6 million Sickle Park upgrade.
