Slipstream Brewing is Brisbane’s newest brewpub, opening this Friday 19 February.

Founders Deale and Elisa Stanley-Hunt are excited to announce the opening. With an investment of over $1.5 million from Mighty Craft, the Stanley-Hunts have significantly expanded their hospitality offering as well as boosted their production capacity to meet increasing customer demand.

Transforming the industrial mechanics at the front of their brewery in Yeerongpilly, they have created a modern and welcoming new brewpub for the local community to enjoy. Designed by Charlie & Rose, a creative studio with offices in Brisbane and Hong Kong, the new brewpub has been integrated into the existing brewery space. The interior retains some of the original industrial grunge, overlaid with timber joinery, colourful furniture and a large open kitchen.

At the street front, a large beer garden welcomes guests along with a shaded farmhouse play area for kids. There is indoor and outdoor dining for 250 people and the kitchen, with an authentic Italian pizza oven and smoker at the centre, will ensure a superb menu of Californian-inspired dishes that are seasonal and light to match Brisbane’s sub-tropical climate. The kitchen team, headed by Chef Adam Healey (ex BrewDog DogTap Brisbane) and Chef Karma Garung (ex The Smoke BBQ), have put the finishing touches on the menu, which features an array of locally sourced ingredients, wood-fired pizzas, classic burgers, smoked meats and fresh seafood.

Signature dishes include barramundi ceviche with lime, chilli, red onion, coriander and sweet potato crisps; popcorn cauliflower and ranch dipping sauce; chicken burger with Southern fried free-range chicken, slaw, cheese and chipotle sauce; fish tacos with battered barramundi, pico de gallo, lettuce, salsa roja, pickled jalapeños and ricotta salata; and a selection of slow cooked meats served with chef’s special BBQ sauce, chipotle coleslaw and fries.

While beer is a key feature of Slipstream Brewing with 20 taps featuring a selection of brewery only exclusive beers including a Hazy IPA and Banoffee Pie Pastry Stout, there is also a concise selection of wines and spirits for those who want something different to sip on. “To commemorate the launch of our new brewpub, we’ve brewed an 8.5 per cent Double IPA to mark the
occasion,” say Deale and Elisa. “Titled ‘Celebration Ale’, it’s a hop combination of Chinook, Simcoe, Citra and Eclipse, and the result is an abundance of pine, grapefruit, mandarin and cumquat characters with a firm bitterness to finish. We describe it as old school meets new school, and it’s a cracker!” say Deale and Elisa.

Taking inspiration from the world-class brewpubs and roadside diners across the west cost of America, principal designer Ben McCarthy summarises the new Slipstream by saying, “This project
presented the team with the opportunity to create a space that is a welcoming and complementary dining experience as an extension to their existing commercial brewing facility. The result is laid back, informal, spacious and fresh, enlivened by the overlaying of the playful Slipstream branding and the gleaming metal brewing equipment sitting proudly at the rear of the
venue.”

Throughout the year, Slipstream Brewing will host an array of special events including beer masterclasses, meet the brewer sessions and beer matching dinners with head brewer Ian Watson,
giving customers the chance to get up close and personal with the founders and makers. They are also planning regular brewery tours which will kick off in March. Located at 94 Wilkie Street, Yeerongpilly, Slipstream Brewing’s brewpub will open from Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 10pm.
