With overwhelmed parents adding home learning to their to do list, primary education teacher and mum of three Kelly Quilter has launched the ultimate home learning survival guide for parents, Teacher for a Day: Lockdown Edition.

After returning home from Thailand and finding out schools could close, Quilter spent two weeks in quarantine modifying her globally recognised teaching resource for relief teachers to create a Lockdown Edition for parents – an affordable 50-page downloadable guide of learning materials. With more than 17 years experience in early childhood and primary education, Quilter hopes to pass her learnings onto everyday parents to make the home education experience pain free, fun and rewarding for both them and their children during lockdown.

As a mother of three, Quilter says the key to keeping your children engaged is to make it fun and interactive so they do not feel like they are learning. “I know there are times that you don’t have the energy to be flying your cape as Super Mum or Dad, so the Teacher for a Day: Lockdown Edition even includes a collection of resources for those days – I’ve titled the chapter ‘lazy parenting’ even though we are far from it!” says Quilter.

“I set out to create Teacher for a Day: Lockdown Edition to make the journey of learning at home as easy and enjoyable as possible,” she said. “With the global pandemic already keeping kids indoors and irritable, it is important now more than ever to protect their psychological wellbeing by keeping them engaged, entertained and educated with tools that don’t feel like learning.”
