The Star Gold Coast’s new hotel The Darling will officially open on Thursday 22 March,  ahead of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. The new 17 storey hotel is located at the front of the Broadbeach Island property, offering premium resort facilities, gaming amenities and a rooftop restaurant and bar, Nineteen at The Star. The Star Entertainment Group Managing Director Queensland Geoff Hogg is excited about the opening. “The Darling [is] at the premium end of the market,” Mr Hogg said. “[It] has a distinct, boutique design and eclectic feel, while boasting the unique spirit and a stunning coastal location for which the Gold Coast is already renowned.

“Every element of the hotel is to a standard of luxury the Gold Coast has yet to experience.” Internationally renowned architect Steelman Partners created the hotel design, and the suites were delivered by multi-disciplinary firm DBI Design and Australian construction company Probuild.

The Darling boasts 22 base rooms, Jewel Suites, and 21 larger Stellar Suites, which offer a floor plan of between 78 and 81 square metres with an east facing balcony. The hotel also contains 14 suites, four Penthouse Suites, three Penthouse Spa Suites and seven Penthouse Deluxe Suites. The north-facing Penthouse Suites feature two king bedrooms with ocean or waterway views, with the option of an additional twin room.

The Penthouse Spa Suite contains a large deluxe spa in a space designed for those wishing to relax, while taking in the coastal beauty. The south facing Penthouse Deluxe Suites contain a grand living and kitchen space and the choice of a private Billiard, Media or Exercise room. All suites feature luxury bedding and intricately designed bathrooms with stunning floor to ceiling glass to optimise the views.

Guests will also enjoy contemporary in-room technology with Samsung Smart TVs and a fully-integrated Bose sound system. Rooms also contain multiple USB ports, WiFi, Bluetooth connectivity and zone control, allowing guests to customise lighting, drapery, temperature and service preferences.
