Cellarmasters hosted its most highly regarded Rewards members for its Krondorf Winemaker Dinner at Lightspace on Friday 26 October. Krondorf winemakers Nick Badrice and Richard Quodling hosted the evening of fabulous food and wine, personally selecting a decadent wine list to match the three course menu.

The evening began with a Dovetail Yarra Valley Chardonnary Pinot Noir aged 2013, served with delectable canapes while guests milled in the foyer of the moody event space. The wine lovers milled into the dining hall, seated at rows of tables in preparation for dinner. The first course was Scallop, Calamari Parfait, Bronze Fennel Aioli and Blood Orange Gel, perfectly partnered with a Krondorf Growers Eden Valley Riesling 2018, with hints of citrus and tropical fruit spicing the seafood nicely.

The main dish was Lamb Loin with Goats Cheese, Pea, Blush Turnip and Floral Ginger Crumble, matched with two wines. The first being the Krondorf Growers Eden Valley Chardonnay 2017, singing stone fruit characters and integrated oak, balanced by crisp acidity and a lengthy finish. The second glass was filled with a supple and complex blend, the Krondorf Growers Barossa Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro 2016, and intense and fragrant dark berry fruit with flavours of plum, spice and oak, a perfect pairing for the blushing red meat.

Krondorf wines are handcrafted in the Barossa Valley by award-winning winemakers Nick and Richard. Born and bred in the Barossa, Nick has won nearly every major wine show award in the country. He draws on more than 20 years of experience to craft the entire Krondorf range. Over the past few vintages, he has been ably assisted by award-winning winemaker Richard, who will soon be taking over from Nick as Chief Winemaker at Krondorf. Like Nick, Richard’s contacts with some of the Barossa’s best growers will ensure Krondorf’s success continues for many years to come.
