After 13 years of breaking wine trends and new names in wine, the Young Gun of Wine’s UNCUT is making its maiden voyage to Brisbane on Saturday 27 October.

Considered an incubator for emerging wine producers, Young Gun of Wine searches for Australia’s most groundbreaking and skilled winemakers, and showcases them around the country with their annual UNCUT wine events. Formed in 2007 by a panel of wine critics who “are serious about wine, but don’t take themselves seriously all the time”, Young Gun of Wine delivers consumers a forecast of industry trends, as well as the latest and greatest, through their winemaker awards, and the “Wineslinger” awards for the country’s best wine-forward venues.

Past winemaker winners have included Rob Mack from Aphelion in McLaren Vale, Michael Downer of Adelaide Hills’ Murdoch Hill, Josephine Perry of Margaret River’s Dormilona, and Taras Ochota of Ochota Barrels. As the first step in Young Gun of Wine’s process of identifying and selecting their top 50, top 12, and number one winemaker of the year, UNCUT is an unfiltered look at the freshest winemakers across the country. In 2018, Brisbane was added to the lineup of cities that includes Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth – with Young Gun of Wine UNCUT to be held at the iconic riverside venue, Brisbane Powerhouse.

Described by wine writer Mike Bennie (Delicious, Gourmet Traveller WINE) as “fun, dynamic and interesting… It’s a not-to-be-missed event on the wine calendar,” UNCUT is Brisbane wine-lovers’ chance to discover the wines that will be dominating menus and cellars in 2019. The team from Powerhouse’s Bar Alto will also be putting together pizzas, arancini, and a range of antipasti available for purchase, and all attendees will take home a genuine Riedel crystal wineglass to remember the drops they have savoured during the event.
