Home grown, Queensland-based specialty coffee company, Zarraffa’s Coffee, will unveil its new $20 million HQ facility including the Zarraffa’s Coffee Roastery and open the doors to a one-off, brand new, bespoke café experience – Kiwanda Café.

Kiwanda Café was born from a two decade-long love affair with coffee, on top of 20 years of know-how and is nestled within the beating heart of the new venue in a reclaimed commercial warehouse on Distillery Road in Eagleby. The brainchild of Zarraffa’s Founder, Kenton Campbell, it is a factory concept café delivering epicurean delights for all tastes with home-style dishes, delicious treats and specialty coffee.

The café was named Kiwanda, the Swahili term for factory, in hopes of bringing the warmth and authenticity of East Africa to Australia.

The Kiwanda Café is a multi-zoned space, boasting an industrial vibe yet homely aesthetic with elements of natural wood, exposed metal, edges of greenery and a signature fireplace with vaulted ceilings that take in views through a four-metre high glass window into an Australian coffee-making engine room – the Zarraffa’s Coffee Roastery.

Their Nitro Brew, Kiwanda’s specialty that is done by infusing nitrogen with cold brew coffee, creates a sweeter, thicker and smoother textured coffee. The café is also home to two piccolo air roasters that roast small batches of coffee.

While they offer both their single origin and gourmet Zarraffa’s coffee blends, one can also try their seasonal microlot single origin coffees from around the world.

The locally sourced café features an all-day breakfast and lunch that is warmly familiar, yet contemporary. Breakfast highlights include the Shed Bennie with Chargrilled Pork Belly, the Kiwanda Bake and decadent Berry Liege waffles while lunch-goers can try their scrumptious KC Burger and the Goddess Dressed Seasonal Green Bowl.

Kiwanda café opened its doors to the public on 5 August and will be brewing daily from 6am to 5pm.
