Developers Cbus Property and Nielson Properties have announced that four local and international architectural teams have been shortlisted in a competition to design a proposed $600 million tower in the centre of Brisbane.
“The calibre of expression-of-interest submissions received from architects were of the highest quality, attracting both local and international interest and making the partnership’s analysis and decision-making process difficult,” said Adrian Pozzo, CEO of Cbus Property.
The shortlisted teams are Hassel, Rex, and Richards and Spence; Cox Architecture, SOM, and Rapt Studio; BVN and SHoP Architects; and Architectus and Woha. In June, the developers came together to jointly develop the 3,000 square metre corner site at 205 North Quay and 30 Herschel Street. The proposed commercial tower will accommodate 50,000 square metres of net lettable office space.
Cbus Property is the developer behind 1 William Street, home to the offices of the Queensland government, designed by Woods Bagot. The consolidation of government offices into a single building enabled the redevelopment of the historic parliamentary precinct into the now under-construction Queens Wharf Brisbane casino resort designed by Cottee Parker for developer Destination Brisbane Consortium. Both developments are also located along the riverfront in the city centre.
The winning team is expected to be appointed in September.
