Woolloongabba creative agency Collectivus has received gold for the Optus George Street experiential flagship store in the Flagships And Showrooms category at the 2018 Sydney DRIVENxDESIGN Awards. The award celebrates innovative and creative building interiors, with consideration given to flagship, discovery centers or showroom space creation and planning, furnishings, finishes and aesthetic presentation.

Collectivus partnered with telecommunication company Optus to design the brand’s first experiential flagship store in Sydney’s George Street. The digital megastore features the latest technology and allows customers to fully immerse themselves into a possible smart home of the future. Split across two levels, the store has been specially designed for user integrated experiences to allow customers to touch, feel and try the latest in Optus technology. The interactive store showcases a kitchen, lounge room and entryway fitted out with smart home technology, providing a familiar space for customers to use the Optus product. Extending the store into the virtual world is the integration of an eye-opening interactive 4×4 8K television screen demonstrating the benefits of how entertainment and the internet of things will play out in real life. The entire store has been designed to ensure every touch point, from design elements through to visual merchandising and purchasing, is centred around the consumer experience, with local construction and joinery company Unita carrying out the designs.

Utilising a local construction and joinery company, all custom joinery within the store was locally sourced and bespoke using Australian timber. The store also makes use of low volatile organic compound paints to reduce carbon-containing solvents that vaporise into the air. The awards presentation will beheld on Tuesday 17 July at Caroma on Collins, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
