Fat Freddy’s Beach Bar & Diner has officially opened in Broadbeach, in the multi-venue dining precinct under the Avani apartment tower. Launched by The Good Time Group’s CEO Ben Walsh and designed by Paul Kelly, the diner’s key feature is its Wall of Infamy, which celebrates controversial figures such as Charlie Sheen, Bill Clinton, Britney Spears, and Monica Lewinsky. The design also features a 16 seat bar which offers viewing of worldwide sports across several screens, booths, and an alfresco area. Fat Freddy’swill soon reveal seats named after and dedicated to Australian sporting stars, especially those living on the Gold Coast.
Executive Chef, Braden White heads the kitchen crew, inspired by classic American diner dishes and reinventing them. On the menu are burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken ribs with hot sour sauce, truffle mac and cheese croquets, barbecue spiced popcorn with bacon butter, and Wagyu jerky with smoked cream and barbecue salt. The bar offers a range of U.S. and Australian beer, along with boozy milkshakes and sodas.
“The popularity of American diner food is at an all-time high, however it’s not often executed to the standard that really pays respectful homage to the classics flavours of these all-American dishes and drinks. We have taken American diner classics, reinvented and refined them whilst ensuring the flavours of the classic US dishes shine through!” said White.
The Good Time Group’s CEO, Ben Walsh said, “With the quality of our food and beverage offerings at Fat Freddy’s Beach Bar & Diner, we expect to appeal to a wide demographic and definitely become a hang-out for local well-known identities.” Fat Freddy’s Beach Bar & Diner is also home to a luxury gaming lounge, complete with its own private parking and venue entry. The swish lounge houses 38 of the latest electronic gaming machines and slot machines.
