The thrill of a lifetime has landed at Westfield Chermside, with the launch of Brisbane’s first iFLY Skydiving Centre this May. Brisbane’s new attraction simulates the adrenaline filled sensation of free falling through the sky, with the use of iFLY’s latest vertical wind tunnel. With no parachutes or planes required, the cutting edge technology allows participants to float on a cushion of air, simulating a skydive.

iFLY Australia’s General manager Nir Davidson said iFLY was a safe and exciting experience that welcomed thrill-seekers aged three to 103 years old, as well as people of all physical ability. “This is a completely new experience for the Brisbane market,” Davidson said. “The ability to deliver that dream of flight to everyone – regardless of their age or physical dexterity – is a key vision for us as an organisation. Additionally, the advanced technology used by iFly enables us to operate to the highest safety standards and maintain an immaculate safety record.”

Supervision is conducted throughout the entire experience by a certified skydiving instructor, led by Brisbane’s lead instructor Jarrad Kilne. Not only has Kilne worked globally for iFLY, but he has also recorded tens of thousands of hours on the VWT system. After spending four years scouting for iFLY’s permanent home, Davidson believes Westfield Chermside was the prime location due to the centre’s new entertainment precinct. “Southeast Queensland’s population is booming and Brisbane, in particular, continues to grow as a tourist destination. The demand is there for a unique entertainment attraction with widespread appeal and what could be more exhilarating than flying in the air?”
