Lethbridge Gallery has announced the finalists of the popular 9th Small Scale Art Award, featuring the collections of the artists from Thursday 12 to Sunday 22 July.

The coveted exhibition at the Brisbane City gallery showcases collections of the artists to watch sourced from the annual Lethbridge 10,000 Art Award. Under judgement based on the three equally evaluated criteria of creativity, originality and skill, the finalist’s creations including drawings, paintings, photographs and all 2D small-scale artworks have successfully grabbed the adjudicator’s attention with exceptional detail and brilliant ideas. The public will have the opportunity to appreciate the finalist’s artworks in the gallery and online, and the 2018 winner will be announced on Saturday 14 July.

Lethbridge 10,000 is one of Australia’s biggest small-scale art awards. With a strong reputation for exhibiting artworks which demonstrates creativity, the Lethbridge Gallery initiated this Lethbridge 10,000 contest and award to foster the next generation of artists and encourage the public to appreciate artist efforts. The award did not only welcome local and national artists but also international talented artists to participate and share the unique ideas of art with one another.

This year the gallery is pleased to announce the Art Shed Brisbane is continuing its support by sponsoring  the Commended Prizes. This will comprise of five $300 vouchers for art materials at the Art Shed Brisbane. This year the gallery is also introducing five $200 vouchers thanks to Brisbane Digital Images.
