The Lethbridge Small Scale Art Award celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, raising first prize from $10,000 to $20,000 in celebration. It is open to national and international artists for small scale artworks, each being judged based on three equally evaluated criteria of creativity, originality and skill.

The finalists for the 2019 Lethbridge 20,000 Small Scale Art Award have been selected and the artists are now preparing their artworks to send to the gallery for the exhibition. The exhibition will take place over both the Paddington and Bulimba gallery locations. Showcasing a variety of small scale artworks by emerging and mid-career artists, the award creates an opportunity to buy the artists of tomorrow.

This year the gallery was pleased to announce their ongoing partnership with Art Shed Brisbane who are sponsoring the category prizes, while Brisbane Digital Images, Centenary Framing and Brisbane Painting Classes are sponsoring the highly commended awards.

The exhibition opening event will take place on 29 June with the announcement of the winner and presentation of the prizes in the evening. The opening night proves to be the biggest night of the exhibition year for the gallery. There will be hundreds of people in attendance for the chance to see and buy a collection of artworks from emerging artists and to enjoy the excitement and anticipation of the winning announcement.
