Nestled on the corner of Creek Street, just metres from the Eagle Street Pier complex, Mr. Claude is hospitality powerhouse Tim Johnson’s latest endeavour.
At 10am on Friday morning, the café was heaving with customers, enjoying the signature blend, and soaking in the ambiance. Tim’s vision was for the café to emulate the feel of an Italian café, with free-flowing coffee, mouth-watering cannoli, ample European style seating, and Italian marble details. Tim is an award-winning hospitality operator and creator of iconic Brisbane hospitality destinations including Corbett & Claude, Comuna Cantina, Knock Knock Gnocchi, Tetto, and Rooftop Bar.
With a passionate team behind the Brisbane CBD café, each member has something unique to offer. I was greeted warmly by the marketing manager, Emily, and the restaurant manager, Pablo. Emily, moved from Brazil a few years ago to learn English and ended up falling in love with the Australian way of life. For Pablo, he is committed to providing a full experience to diners and prides himself on Mr. Claude’s signature coffee blend.
The coffee class started with Pablo serving us up a cup of signature brew with creamy macadamia milk and fresh chocolate shaven on top. Pablo showed us how to perfect coffee art using chocolate syrup, by the end of the class we felt confident creating art good enough to sell (well not quite, but we were getting there).
Mr. Claude is set up to take diners from day to night, with coffee to start to the day and spritz, like Aperol to wind down after a long day’s work. The signature coffee blend was carefully curated to capture the essence of both the Italian and Australian cafe culture. Mr. Claude offers a selection of toasties, salads, desserts, and juices.
