One of Brisbane’s most historic and iconic hotels has reopened its doors this week as it reclaims its status as Brisbane’s original local pub. Following its sale and full redevelopment this year, Brisbane’s Normanby Hotel is heading back to its roots, focusing on all-day dining, great service, sporting events, functions, a new look beer garden and new fig tree.

Constructed in 1890, the heritage-listed Normanby Hotel captures the picturesque history of Brisbane. The change of focus says goodbye to the infamous Sunday sessions and carpark parties, with The Normanby Hotel’s new owner, Jaz Mooney, revealing the importance for the Hotel to rebuild its character and prominence in the community.

“After a change of ownership and redevelopment, we identified an opportunity for The Normanby Hotel to reinstate itself as one of Brisbane’s most iconic landmarks,” Mooney said. “The entire building has been stripped back and redeveloped while being respectful to its heritage listing and original character.”

Dedicated to rewarding the community, The Normanby Hotel are offering local residents discount and offers through a new Locals’ Black Card. “We want to give back to the community, and offer good old-fashioned value for money,” Mooney said.

Shaun Dunleavy from the Winchester Group said after an extensive $3 million redevelopment, the team’s excited to reopen the doors. The upper floor now pays tribute to the club with the walls of The Hounds Lounge reflected through the interior design and décor. After the loss of the large fig tree in 2016, we’ve planted a new one in its place as a symbol that The Normanby Hotel is back to its old roots, resurrected and ready for Brisbane to create new memories,” Dunleavy said.

The Normanby Hotel is open and currently taking bookings for functions.
