Yasmin and Tash bonded over a dream to create their own bespoke bridal boutique. From this dream, Oscar & Ivy Bridal was born, named after their babies Oscar 2, and Ivy 10 months. Byron Bay was their first choice of location, holding a special place in their hearts as it was where they met, and where their children were born.
Designing customized and affordable wedding dresses is a passion of both women. “We make the best team in order to give our brides a personable dress buying experience,” said Yasmin and Tash. Both women have significant experience in the wedding industry, with Yasmins’ fashion design background, and Tashs’ 5 years of experience as a wedding celebrant. The desire to begin Oscar & Ivy was spurred when Yasmin was searching for her own wedding dress, and struggled to find ‘The One’. Yasmin says she ‘took matters into her own hands’and designed her own dream dress.
Unlike most other designers, Yasmin and Tash have a different process for finding design inspiration. “We start with a made up persona, we name her, give her a personality and then we design the dress for her. For example, Maia is playful, doesn’t take life too seriously and is a hopeless romantic at heart. She’s the life and soul of the party and comfort is a must for her on her big day so she can dance the night away. We designed Maia with a soft crepe underlay so our brides will be comfortable all day and night, and her skirt is designed so it won’t get in the way on the dance floor.” Oscar & Ivy Bridal continues to be unique from other designers, as owners Yasmin and Tash oversee the entire process, which means brides will only deal with them directly.
