We spoke to Margaret Campbell-Ryder, Director and Owner of Red Hill Gallery, about all things art this winter.

Favourite international holiday destination and why?

San Francisco, it’s such a vibrant city; they have so many beautiful art galleries. I could get lost for hours wandering (and have) finding something different every time.

Ultimate Australian escape and why?

I love the Gold Coast. It has the best beaches in the world.

Which do you prefer — country or city living and why?

I grew up in Rochester country Victoria, but Brisbane stole my heart back in the 70s. It has grown into a great cosmopolitan city, but still retains that wonderful laid back style.

Favourite room in home and why?

My front verandah. It overlooks a beautiful park and Government House. I spend many hours there, reading, catching up on work or sitting with a coffee relaxing with my two Persians.

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be and what would you serve?

Ayn Rand the writer. I would love to explore that amazing mind. I would serve her up my special curry that I make probably — not what she would expect though.

What has been your proudest moment to date?

Buying Red Hill Gallery with my husband Graham some 21 years ago and making it as successful as it is.
